Beard Transplant in Turkey: Fill in Patchy Facial Hair

Turkey's surgeons can create a full, natural-looking beard using the same techniques as scalp transplants.

What Is a Beard Transplant?

A beard transplant uses the same FUE or DHI techniques as a scalp hair transplant, but the grafts are implanted into the face instead. Hair is extracted from the back of the scalp (which has a similar texture to beard hair) and transplanted to areas of the beard that are patchy, thin, or completely bare. Beard transplants can address: • Patchy beard growth • Scarring from acne or injuries • Thin or wispy facial hair • Complete absence of beard (genetic) • Transgender patients seeking masculine facial features The procedure typically requires 1,000-3,000 grafts depending on the area to be covered. A full beard from scratch requires the most grafts, while filling in patches requires fewer.

The Procedure

Beard transplants follow a similar process to scalp transplants: 1. Design: The surgeon designs the beard shape, density, and boundaries with your input 2. Extraction: Grafts are extracted from the back of the scalp using FUE technique 3. Implantation: Grafts are implanted at very precise angles (beard hair grows at a much flatter angle than scalp hair — typically 10-20 degrees vs 40-45 degrees for scalp hair) 4. Recovery: Similar to scalp transplants but on the face DHI is often preferred for beard transplants because the Choi pen gives better angle control, which is critical for natural-looking facial hair. The procedure takes 4-8 hours depending on the number of grafts.

Recovery and Results

Beard transplant recovery: Days 1-5: Redness and small scabs on the face. Most patients stay in Turkey during this period. Days 5-10: Scabs fall off. Redness fades. You can return to work. Weeks 2-4: Transplanted hairs fall out (shock loss). This is normal. Months 3-6: New beard hair begins growing. It starts thin and gradually thickens. Months 8-12: Full results visible. The transplanted hair is permanent and can be shaved, trimmed, and styled like natural beard hair. Important: Transplanted beard hair comes from your scalp, so it may initially grow faster than natural beard hair. Regular trimming will help it blend in.

Cost in Turkey vs Canada

Beard transplant costs: • Turkey: $2,000-$5,000 CAD (all-inclusive) • Canada: $8,000-$15,000 CAD (procedure only) Many patients combine a beard transplant with a scalp transplant in the same trip, which can be more cost-effective than two separate procedures.
